Please welcome yet another Timber Doctor to our team – Jodie. She will be managing The Timber Doctor Wollongong territory in New South Wales. We spoke to her about her reasons for joining The Timber Doctor and what she hopes to achieve with the business.

What was it that attracted you to join The Timber Doctor business?
I am really excited to Join the Timber Doctor Franchise. I have been working with a Leather Doctor Franchisee In Wollongong for a few years and have really enjoyed my time. I have always wanted to expand on my creative side. I believe the intricate work and potential to expand the Timber Doctor in the Illawarra/ Wollongong area is exciting and I’m up for the challenge.
What did you do prior to becoming a Timber Doctor?
I have been working in Graphic design/ marketing industry since leaving school. My husband Damien & I travelled Europe for 10 years, where I had various jobs, most working around design. Through mutual friends, I met Ian Dewey from The Leather Doctor Wollongong & started working for him.
What territory will you manage?
We will be operating The Timber Doctor business in the Wollongong/Illawarra areas.
What do you hope to achieve during your time as a Timber Doctor?
Our hope and dreams are big. We recently went to The leather Doctor Conference and left confident and excited about the prospects. Our goal is to build the Illawarra Timber Doctor into a successful business, with a view to expand & obtain additional franchise areas around Sydney in the future.
What was it about The Timber Doctor franchise that appealed to you ?
My passion has always been art/creativity. Since school I’ve loved working with paints, and with the intricacy required to repair/revive old or damaged timber & tiles gives me an opportunity to challenge myself – while doing something I love. With my youngest child heading off to primary school, I needed a new challenge. The ongoing support of the team at head office also gives me confidence in this new venture.
What advice would you give to someone looking to buy a Timber Doctor franchise?
Do your homework & take your time. Speak with anyone at head office or other franchisees. Everyone I have spoken to has been great and willing to help and give advice. After working with Ian (The leather Doctor – Illawarra) for 6 years, and having met so many other franchisees, customers and subcontractors, I am confident & prepared for anything that comes my way.
Tell us something interesting about yourselves?
My husband and I lived overseas for 10 years – 6 years in UK and 4 in the South of France. We were so lucky to live and work there and all the experiences that came with it. Our 2 eldest were born overseas and we decided to move back before they started school. We grew up in Western Sydney, but decided to settle in Wollongong on our return from Europe, with our 3rd ( and last!!!!) child born not long after. We feel so blessed to be in this position & excited for our family’s future.
Describe your ideal weekend?
Ideal weekend would be watching my kids play sport, beach swim or paddle board with the hubby , followed with a wine and cheese platter with friends!
