It’s a warm welcome to our newest Leather Doctors, John and Amy, who will be servicing The Leather Doctor Hills and Hawkesbury territory. We spoke to them about their reasons for joining The Leather Doctor and what they hope to achieve with their business. Here’s what they had to say:
What was it that attracted you to join The Leather Doctor business?
We are a husband and wife team who after 20 years in John’s current industry and Amy going from a corporate career to caring for our family full time, were looking for our next career move and an opportunity to build our own business. We liked the idea of a franchise structure that would not only deliver us a new challenge in a new industry but also provide us with the knowledge and support of a trusted brand, it was during this search that we found The Leather Doctor. We were instantly impressed with the franchise structure and from our first meeting were excited by the processes used to repair and recondition leather and make it live longer.
What did you do prior to becoming a Leather Doctor?
John is a qualified Spray Painter of 20 years and was the General Manager of a successful transport business and prior to children Amy was a promotional packaging project manager.
What territory have you purchased?
We have purchased The Leather Doctor Hills and Hawkesbury territory in NSW.
What do you hope to achieve during your time as a Leather Doctor?
We hope to build a successful business that provides high quality service to our community and to build a reputation for being the best in the area. Our personal goal is to be able to provide ourselves with a quality of life that allows us to continue our hobbies and provide our children with a secure financial future.
What process did you go through to make sure The Leather Doctor was the right franchise for you?
Initially we met with Casey to find out the types of services The Leather Doctor offered, from this initial meeting we knew the industry was for us and from this point we did our due diligence, researching our local area, looking at the financial and legal aspects and putting a plan together to ensure that the concept and our initial passion would be a successful fit for us.
What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase a franchise?
Make sure do your due diligence, research the industry, the company and the area you want to operate in to make sure it makes sense from a personal and business stand point. The benefit of buying a franchise is you receive the training, knowledge and support of a market leader so embrace the journey and enjoy the opportunity to build the business you want hand in hand with a known and respected brand.
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself?
We met at a motorsport track where Amy was working with a race category and John was racing in HQ Holdens, since we got together John has won two NSW HQ Holden championships, which Amy likes to take the credit for as his good luck charm.
Describe your ideal weekend?
A weekend away racing with the family.
