Today we’re saying hi to our Rockingham Leather Doctor – Glenn Dafoe. Glenn manages The Leather Doctor Rockingham territory in Western Australia. We spoke to him about his reasons for joining The Leather Doctor and his plans to grow the business. Here’s what he had to say…
What was it that attracted you to join The Leather Doctor business?
I had been looking for an opportunity to take more control of my day-to-day life. Something both challenging and stimulating, but where I would realise the direct benefit of my skills and hard work. Leather Doctor offered me a pathway to join a well-established and reputable business with systems in place that lead to success. I look forward to seeing where this new adventure takes me.
What did you do prior to becoming a Leather Doctor?
I have had a variety of occupations within Defence, Emergency Services and Mining industries. Most recently, I have been working as an Emergency Services Officer at a West Australian mine site.
What do you hope to achieve during your time as a Leather Doctor?
I hope to become recognised as a highly skilled and capable operator by both my customers and my peers. This is a service industry where relationships and reputation are critical to all aspects of success.
What advice would you give to someone interested in becoming a Leather Doctor?
Don’t be afraid to make enquiries!
You need to be well organised, have an eye for detail and well-developed people skills. While I benefit from previous experience in manufacturing and maintaining soft furnishings, these skills can be taught.
I approached a variety of franchisors in the initial stages, and none were as open and transparent as Leather Doctor. The team have always been highly responsive to my questions and have walked me through every step of the process to date.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I joined the Royal Australian Air Force at age 24 to serve my country and protect its interests. You can imagine my dismay when I spent the first months of my trade training learning how to use a sewing machine! Of course, many years later, this has proven to be a blessing in disguise.
Describe your ideal weekend?
Something about sleeping in? Sounds amazing… Jokes aside, I do enjoy the opportunity to take the foot off the gas pedal on the weekends.
Taking my kids to sports or on an adventure. A good gym session, a great Sunday Brunch and lots of even better coffee in perfect spring weather for the win.

Hi, we have a leather suite which has some scratch / scuff marks on it caused by the dogs claws when jumping off at speed.
Please advise if this is something you could repair.
